Update on the kids

Chris and Wendy came over on Sunday and Chris took a ton of photos  I’ve included one of them here.

Milton is settling in quite nicely.  He got his first furminator experience today.  I also changed him from Go! Natural Canine Duck Formula to Wellness Super5Mix Just for Puppy  I changed him because he wasn’t absorbing any of the Go! Natural; he was literally pooping about 10-15 times/day.  It was probably a bit soon to switch his foods already, but I didn’t see much of a choice.

He didn’t do well on the raw; he got very itchy and his eyes were tearing constantly.  Hoping that the Wellness will be ok even though it does have some chicken (which is what we start raw on).  It’s a rough transition but I expect it to go pretty quickly and hopefully he’ll do well on this.  One month trial started today.

He’s doing great with his training and tonight or tomorrow will start Crate Games; which I actually intend to do with Elka as well.  She doesn’t need it in the way he does, but it looks like a lot of fun.

We have our first puppy & person obedience class Wednesday evening.  He is doing very well with the initial homework; mostly great eye contact, a “yes” word, and a release cue.  He’s got intense eye contact down pat already.

Elka is doing awesome as always. She really seems to enjoy having a playmate around.  I’ve switched my Mali training method to full on body-blocking and this is seeming to be much more effective.  I’m combining this with positive reinforcement for looking to me and not chasing; along with 2 walks/day on non daycare days.  The combination has kept Mali able to travel around the house easily.

Elka’s my wonderful girl and I love her to pieces; I can’t imagine a world where she’s not here.  I’m happy that I’ve finally found a family addition that works for everyone in my house.  I’m not sure I can ever do a non-multi-dog household again, though.  I’m addicted.

Mali, my baby.  She’s doing SUPER  She’s at 8.5lbs!!!!!!!!  Liver ALT is normal, white blood cell count is normal. Her BUN and Creatanin levels are elevated - that’s her kidneys.  Not too bad but still not great.  That’s probably an all-meat diet, but… she’s eating a ton of kibble and cat wet food, so I’m trying to wean her down off her reliance on pure meat products.  Oh and her blood pressure may be increased from the Cyproheptadine, but we’ll know tomorrow as I’m bringing her in at 10:30 to check it.  We suspect the issue because she gave us blood faster than it should have come out.

The fish are doing really well; I’m going to add some more next week.

All in all my little family is doing great.  I need to find a food that works with Milton and I need to get Mali on cat food and not plain meat.  Elka I need to make sure gets one on one time with me.

Happy times!
