Yesterday was Tiayr’s last day here. We had a great visit, it was way too brief.
I also procured for myself a new Xbox 360 and Kinect. I was concerned I’d hate it, and had major hesitations adding yet another gaming console. But so far I absolutely love the games. They’re a blast and beats the hell out of needing to hang on to a controller.
My foster, Elle, did not work out. She turned out to be quite cat aggressive and she attacked Elka a few times - first redirected tension from looking at the cat, then the other times not quite sure why. I had been told she was “dominant” and “alpha” - when they asked if Elka was that way (Elka is none of those and has always gotten along with all dogs, if a bit of a rough player). But Elka never challenged Elle, I was watching the body language very carefully. Elle would just randomly go after Elka.
I have alerted the rescue that I am no longer going to foster. Historically, I felt like they had my back, getting dogs that were dangerous to my family members out; however, this time, I had to throw a heck of a tantrum to get her out of my house. I know that they’re short on foster homes, and I feel bad - but I don’t have the means to keep dogs separated, and I did not want to lock Mali away to keep her safe. I’m no longer willing to risk bringing a dog here without the safety net of the rescue if things aren’t working.
That’s a shame, I like fostering, but it’s the right decision for now. I may try again when I only have to deal with dog-friendly dogs and not have a cat in the mix. Who knows?
Other than that, not much. I played Dance Central for an hour today and it was the first real exercise I’ve gotten since my cough started - and ever so much more fun than running. I do intend to continue my barefoot running, though. Playing with the Kinect reminds me of the fun I had with DDR; I don’t remember why I stopped playing, but I do know that Elka chewed up the connection on my nice foam mat; and also playing the old DDR on the new PS3 isn’t the most awesome experience.
I love not needing the peripherals though, the whole “body as controller” thing is perfect. I may never touch a non-Kinect Xbox game, but I will be playing the Kinect games nearly every day for sure.
