Ingredients
- • 6 inch dough ball (either homemade or can be purchased at a store locally, I cut the ones I buy in half for this recipe)
- • 1/4 lb (more or less personal choice) mozzarella
- • as needed sauce for dipping
- • as needed flour to make dough unsticky
Process
- 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
- 2. Roll out 6 inch dough ball into a circular pizza shape, as thin as possible
- 3. Spread a layer of cheese down on half of the dough, leaving about a half an inch of crust along the side
- 4. Put other toppings (sausage and pepperoni for mine) down on top of the cheese
- 5. Spread another layer of cheese on top of the toppings.
- 6. Fold the empty part of the pizza dough over the side with toppings
- 7. Crimp the sides of the dough together to form a pocket with the toppings inside
- 8. Cut 3 to 5 small holes into the top of the calzone with a knife, these are for ventilation
- 9. Place calzone on a pizza stone or baking sheet, cornmeal can be used to prevent sticking
- 10. Cook for 10-15minutes, or until calzone is a light golden brown
- 11. Heat sauce for dipping in separate dish
