2 months into my diet/fitness routine, and 6 days into Paleo and CrossFit, I got my biomarkers and blood tests done.
Total Cholesterol: 186
HDL: 32 (way too low)
Triglycerides: 189
LDL: 115
non-HDL: 153
TC/HDL: 5.7
Glucose: 82
A1C: 5.9
I did CR-P as well but they have to send out for that, so it’ll come back later this week.
This was after skipping the Simvastatin last night. The doc wants me to stay on the statin - but I’m being me and not. After reading up on the dangers of statins, and understanding how they work, I’m positive I can get this under control through diet and exercise, and that statins are not the solution. Some may be genetic but we’ll see where I"m at after a few months of strict paleo.
On the other hand, the doctor felt around the knee that has been bugging me and is worried about my inner meniscus. It may be bent, or torn. She said if it’s still problematic in 3 months, I need to go back and maybe do some MRIs and find out what the heck is going on with it.
I’m still suffering severe insomnia and not falling asleep in any sort of reasonable time, so they are upping my Trazadone (anti-depressants are great sleep aids apparently) to help me fall asleep, which should help both with my CPAP compliance and with my repair factor after these wonderful CrossFit workouts.
Meanwhile I’m debating doing the benchmark WoD today. They’re doing an easier benchmark since the CrossFit games start tomorrow and they want to be tops for that. And I’ll likely do some aqua aerobics tonight. It’s not like that’ll get my heart rate going much, but I’m betting it’ll help out with the muscle soreness. Maybe a few laps right beforehand too.
