Foster adventures, Milton the wonderdog

About 8 days ago I saw two Tervuren Husky mixes at Oregon Humane.  I wanted one, either one.  Badly.

But I was leaving for SXSW in 2 days, if the timing wasn’t right, it wasn’t meant to be.  They were both adopted by Thursday afternoon.

Later that same afternoon I got a call from GBR about a 4.5 month old, very thin, golden puppy named Milton.  He needed a foster home to get him up to proper weight and adoptable.  But I was leaving at 6am.  They kept him in isolation at the vet (he had to be neutered anyway) and I got him on Tuesday.

It was love at first sight.

Ok, so he’s scrawny, and hyper, and a puppy, and he’s driving Elka insane since she never slept off boarding.  But the little guy is highly intelligent, extremely affectionate, and has been excellent with both Elka and Mali once he got used to the routine,  got out his pent up energy, and mellowed out.  Proof?

Milton and Elka:

Milton and Mali:

There have been many other incredible moments that I haven’t yet posted.

The little guy has wormed his way into my heart, Elka’s heart, and most importantly? Mali’s heart.  She likes him better than she likes Elka, and who would be surprised? He doesn’t chase Mali incessantly.

Does everything really happen for a reason?  This certainly makes it seem so.

It’s getting really hard to imagine not having him here. . .
