Have you ever… asked the grinning bobcat why he grins?

Over the course of the last week I finalized my travel plans for heading down to San Francisco in late May/early June.  I had to head down to that area for EECI 2010, so I decided to lengthen the trip.  I’m going down on Friday, May 28th and returning Thursday, June 3rd.  For most of that time I am staying with Growl, but I am also hoping to hook up with Tiayr.

For the days of the conference, I’ll be staying right in San Francisco.  Growl has been kind enough to not only host me at his house, but to offer transportation.

I’m very excited about EECI; not only because I get to spend much needed time with close friends; but because almost my entire team will be flying in.  As a dispersed team it can be hard to connect with everyone; but in this case, we’ll be very close.  I’m looking forward to that more than I can express here.

I am very nervous about leaving my kids for 6 days.  Mali will be hospitalized during that time; though Growl has offered to host her; and to medicate her while I’m at the conference.  Isn’t he just incredible?  But I think that, for Mali’s health, safety, and sanity, she’ll do better at the vets.  At least there, if she crashes, she has the best of care including her normal vet.  Mali has a host of long-term, ongoing issues and trying to get her emergency care is a frustrating experience at best.

Elka and Milton will be having a blast at the daycare, so I’m not that worried about them.

It’s only a 2 hour flight, which isn’t bad; but I may try to get a first-class upgrade at the gate anyway.  That was lovely coming back from SXSW.

In fact, while this is primarily a work trip; it’s going to feel like a vacation for me.  I’m very much looking forward to it.
