(Pictures care of Chris (Adversus))
Chris left earlier today. I wasn’t feeling my normal chipper self, so he took a cab. I felt really bad about that, but there it is.
It was a mixed visit. We had some pretty tense moments, but had some great times too. I’m sure I’m overly irritable since I’m going on 2 months being sick.
I just got off the phone with a lady from the Nat’l Pyrenees Rescue. They’re starting a Pacific NW network to transport neglected dogs from the South to places where they’re more rare and more likely to find a home where they’re valued rather than discarded. I have offered to do short transport hops and also to foster and do home checks.
I did also let Golden Bond know that I may be available to foster.
My requirements now are:
The Great Pyr Rescue desperately needs help to get these dogs into better situations. Can you help foster either long or short-term? What about helping with transport legs to get the dogs where they need to go? Perhaps you are dog experienced but can’t have one, could you help do home checks for potential adopters/foster homes? If you don’t like Pyrs, what about Goldens? Or just doing this for a generalized rescue or shelter?
Cat person? Do this for cats!
Every dog/cat/animal that goes into a home, even temporarily, is one more animal that may not have to be put down for the sole reason of not having a home. Many of these dogs are wonderful, sweet family members. Can you help? Even a short transport leg can make all the difference to these dogs.

Chris helped me (he did it, that is) put up some shelving in the garage so I can organize. I have a LOT of space now for “stuff”, so that is one of my personal projects. I’m making a list of “things” I need done by a handyman so I can have IYH send David out to do some work in my house - probably a day’s worth.
Meanwhile, my little younguns are being very good. It’s finally cool out. There was a helluva racket from Orenco Station earlier - that’s about .5 miles away and I heard it here through open windows. Mali is batting around a piece of cardboard as I write, and the dogs are chilling outside. My guest bathroom looks incredible and I’m hoping to do my final project here for awhile: the hallway and master bedroom flooring.
Mom is going to visit over Thanksgiving. I go to Seattle Thursday to see some EE people and to hang out with Les and Leslie. I come back Friday and have a nice relaxing weekend of absolutely no plans.
Looking forward to a great week here. I have a pretty awesome life, I’m quite enjoying it.
