Milton, my new foster

On Thursday I was contacted by Golden Bond about a 4.5 month old golden (mix?) pup that needed a foster.  He was pulled from the shelter because he was too thin, they didn’t think he’d get adopted.  He’s quite thin.

His name is Milton.

He’s adorable.

I let them know I was out of town until Tuesday for SXSW but I would be able to take him upon my return.  Tuesday at 4pm I met one of the ladies to get him.  Absolutely adorable little guy.

He was very hyper for about 2 days, and he’s still fairly hyper since he’s a puppy.  But he’s mellowed out and starting to self-regulate.  He can take a nap now without me crating him, for instance. He inhales his food so he’s been eating out of a treat ball.  He’s incredibly smart, and learns very quickly.  He’s actually pretty darn good with Mali too.  Curious and friendly - too friendly for her liking, but while he does try to chase he comes off the chase very quickly when told to and is easily distracted.  If she’s not in motion he sniffs her and moves on.  No major focus here, he just wants to be pals.

He’s pretty high energy and he’s keeping Elka pretty busy - so busy that she regularly begs me for some downtime.  He’s crate trained and napping well, and sleeping through the night.  Only one accident so far in the house, and he learned the dog door within an hour of being in the house.

As you can see, he and Elka are doing extremely well.

and he’s just a really happy little guy.

I think I’m in love.
