Trying CrossFit and other life changes

Today I visited Pacific Personal Training; the only folks that offer CrossFit in this area that I could find.

I spent an hour with a wonderful lady names Rosemary.  She introduced me to the concepts, went over my goals and issues, eased my fears about getting into a high intensity, high energy fitness program, as well as the outright fear factor that CrossFit people are simply intimidating.  She went over how they modify the exercises for each individual.  We discusssed my aversion to “mean”/“abusive” trainers, and they use positive reinforcement there, so that’s all good.

She gave me a week pass to try out CrossFit - that starts tomorrow. They also have beginner’s classes M W F at 6:30pm.  So guess what I’m doing at 6:30pm tomorrow?

(should I really broadcast my movements? oh well!)

Now the folks at this gym are very much into the Paleo diet; something I’m beginning research on.  I’m skeptical, but I’ll read and maybe I can take something from it.  It seems pretty severe, so who knows if I’ll go whole hog - but I like the basic theory behind the diet - I’m just not sure it’s “me”.  I’d be more inclined to go vegetarian before I went paleo - but I’ll do my homework and figure it out.

Meanwhile, CrossFit is hard.  No one tries to hide that.  It’s something I’d love to be able to look at myself and say, “hey, i can do that”.  But right now I’m not so sure.

The next 7 days will tell, eh?

Wish me luck!
